For the following argument, identify the important claims by copying and pasting them into MindMup in another tab, give the ultimate conclusion the number 1, and map the arguments. After you have finished mapping all of the arguments in Mastery Check 3.2, in MindMup, click File –> Share and type rsaucedo@lamar.edu to share your maps with me for grading, just as you did for the MindMup – Honorlock Test.“Epistemology is the branch of philosophy that considers knowledge and justified belief. Among other things, epistemology addresses the extent to which we should, or shouldn’t, trust our senses. Descartes, the father of modern philosophy, was disinclined to trust the evidence of his senses unless that evidence could be shown to be trustworthy through other, non-sensory sources, like reason. Other philosophers, like Locke, took sensory evidence to be sufficiently trustworthy to not require external support. Can we be confident that our sensory organs are reliable? Well, the theory of evolution has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt, so our sensory organs are the product of evolution. Evolution would produce reliable sensory organs because evolution favors traits that encourage reproduction and animals with reliable sensory organs will have offspring. After all, if an animal lacks reliable sensory organs then it’s apt to be eaten by undetected predators before it can reproduce. Consequently, we can be reasonably confident that our sensory organs are reliable.”
