Infamous cyclist and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong is a textbook example of what not to do with cancers. Prior to his diagnosis he stated that he spent weeks training through the pain of a severely swollen testicle. He stated that he thought the swelling was just due to the amount of time he spent on a bike and it would resolve itself, and he did not have any concerns about it. Based on the Health Belief Model of change, why did Lance not go in to get his swollen testicle checked out?
