Your Weekly Reading Responses will be informal essays that respond to several questions about the week’s primary readings, namely these will be short stories. For Week 1, however, I’m going to have you respond to a few questions here to wrap up all you’ve read and learned this week. This will also give me an honest writing sample from you to hopefully track your writing improvement throughout the class. Please be sure you have read the materials in Week 1’s module, specifically the ENGL 1302 Textbook introduction to Literature and the readings in your Week 1 Perusall assignment before starting this writing response. Why do we read literature? Specifically, why have you read literature in your own life? Could your reasons change in this class? How do we read literature well? What are some strategies and skills we need to approach literature in an academic way?And, finally, who is one of your favorite fictional characters of all time and why? (This doesn’t have to be from literature. The character could be from fiction, film, comics, games, or anything!)Your sample should be at least 400 words with a paragraph for each numbered question. While you are not scored for grammar, mechanics, or writing quality, you should take care with your sample and make sure it is the best representation of your average writing style within the given time.
