The “highness” or “lowness” of a sound which can be represented as a frequency or a note name is [answer1]. A single note, all by itself means nothing. It is only when we add notes together that we create music. The distance between two pitches is called an [answer2]. Each group of two notes has a special name to describe that distance between them. Pitches are, of course, defined by their frequency. The idea that pitches whose frequencies are related by powers of two (e.g. 220, 440, 880) are given the same letter name.
