It is the world’s second largest cetacean (a marine mammal of the order Cetacea – a whale, dolphin, or porpoise), after the blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus). The karyotype shown here was generated from an adult fin whale.     A fin whale cell undergoing meiosis will have [1] chromosomes and [2] chromatids in each cell at the end of meiosis I. At the end of meiosis II, it will have [3] chromosomes and [4] chromatids in each cell.
