What is the most common type of speeches?

When a doctor discusses treatment alternatives for a medical condition with you, which one of the Functions of Informative Speeches that we talked about in class is he/she using?

The type of persuasive speech where you talk about the truth or falsity of an assertion that cannot be proven absolutely.

“Angus declares that Scotsmen do not put sugar on their porridge, to which Lachlan points out that he is a Scotsman and puts sugar on his porridge.  Furious, like a true Scot, Angus yells that no TRUE Scotsman sugars his porridge.”
