A new scаle designed tо meаsure sоciаl intrоversion was administered to students in Psych-335 on the first day of class. The scale was designed to assess a person’s willingness to interact with others and apprehension experienced when interacting with others. To determine whether the scale adequately measures introversion, the reliability and validity of the scale were assessed. To assess the reliability of the scale, Cronbach’s alpha was calculated for the 18 item scale, alpha was found to be .924. To assess test-retest reliability the measure was re-administered to students approximately one month after the survey was initially filled out. The scores on the first test were then correlated with the scores on the second test, the correlation was found to be r = .762. To assess the construct validity of the introversion scale two additional measures were administered to students on the first day of class, the Marlow Crown Social Desirability Scale and the Revised Check and Buss Shyness Scale. Overall the introversion scale had a correlation of r = .125 with the social desirability scale and r = .717 with the shyness scale.
