Alex is looking to upgrade her graphics card to an AMD Radeon 7800 XT, but none are in stock for a reasonable price due to the COVID semiconductor issues. However, James, who buys and trades computer parts and just so happens to have one spare 7800 XT, offers to Alex “Hey Alex, I will sell my extra card to you for retail price--USD 1000. You can either pay me right now or promise to pay me later. How about it?” Alex then says “I promise to pay you USD 1000 for it later, James!” At that same moment, another person, Rick, points a gun at James and demands the graphics card; James gives Rick the graphics card.
