Let’s explore this notion by thinking about what effects will lead to a pot of spaghetti cooking faster. Figure 2 shows a hot plate that has two heating elements. It can be seen that the heating elements are the same size. The heating element on the left is set on “High”, while the heating element on the right is set to “Low”.  Based on this information we can say that the heating element on the left will cook the pot of spaghetti faster. Use this same analysis of size and temperature for the hotplates in Figure 3 to decide which of the two heating elements will cook the pot of spaghetti faster: Left, Right – or you can decide that no determination can be made.
