In Mаrch 2011, а mаgnitude 9.1 earthquake fоllоwed by a tsunami hit the nоrtheast coast of Japan and resulted in the death of approximately 20,000 people. The deadly earthquake, which became known as the "Great East Japan Earthquake", was the largest magnitude ever recorded in Japan and the third-largest in the world since 1900. Rescue and relief operations subsequent to the Great East Japan Earthquake were conducted through extensive cooperation among police, fire services, the Japan Coast Guard, and the Self-Defense Forces (Government of Japan, 2012), including a tsunami evacuation operation.  After the disaster, multiple agencies conducted surveys to collect data on impacts and sociodemographic information about people affected in different districts. The survey of interest herein targeted people affected by the earthquake and tsunami who resided in Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima prefectures. Below you will find two graphs: 1) the number of casualties segmented by gender and age group; 2) accompanying persons or not during the evacuation process (by gender).  Identify the overall trends on both graphs in terms of gender and age group. Discuss it considering sociodemographic characteristics, behavior, and cultural cognition. You are required to explain who and why within the context of casualties and evacuation (response behavior).
