A 20-yeаr-оld cоllegiаte bаseball pitcher repоrts a sudden sharp pain along the rt. medial elbow while throwing a fastball during a game. He states he felt a “pop” and had to come out of the game immediately due to pain and loss of control. Since the incident, he reports persistent rt. medial elbow pain, decreased throwing velocity, and a feeling of instability when attempting to throw. He also notes occasional numbness and tingling in the ring and small fingers after throwing. During the clinical assessment, the athletic trainer observed mild swelling along the medial elbow. Palpation revealed tenderness over the medial joint line just distal to the medial epicondyle. Active range of motion is full but painful at end-range extension.
