News breаks thаt Ebоlа strikes Kikwit Africa again. This time it is the virulent strain knоwn as the Zaire strain оf Ebola. An observant physician notices that when a blood transfusion from a survivor of Ebola, they dying patient survives. The physician gets permission from a hospital administrator to run a series of tests to see if the blood transfusions are the reason the dying patient survived. Two groups of 10 patients are all given blood transfusions during their sickness. Ten patients in Group A receive 4 pints of normal blood (blood from donors that have not had Ebola). Ten patients in Group B are given 2 pints of normal blood and 2 pints of blood from Ebola survivors. All patients are then given the same antiviral medications, meals, water, and living conditions in the hospital in Kikwit. At the end of 2 weeks, 9 patients have died in Group A and only one patient from Group B dies. The results indicate that blood from Ebola survivors protects against the virus.
