You have 2 hours to complete this exam. Make sure to write in present tense, and avoid using second person perspective “you.” This is a formal essay. You should have an intro, a thesis statement, support, and a conclusion. You may use pen or pencil. Skip lines, and only write on the front of each page. You do not need a heading, title, or works cited page, though you need to use in-text citations. You must use at least two of the assigned sources to support your argument. For example, some groups are said to be underrepresented or incorrectly represented on television, maintaining stereotypes rather than true depictions. Moreover, programs claiming to be unbiased and objective appear to project partiality and slanted ideals to the viewing public. In a well-developed essay, argue whether this portrayal of “real” life on television has significant potential consequences for its viewing audience. Do the actions or opinions of people on screen have a negative or positive effect on people socially or emotionally? Use at least two of the assigned readings to develop claim.
