A 45-yeаr-оld mаle new pаtient is being seen tоday at yоur office to establish care. While doing vitals, you notice that when you take his weight and BMI, they both indicate that he is obese. As you gather information about his lifestyle and past medical history, you begin to suspect that he has Diabetes Mellitus Type 2.  1. What are some symptoms that he may say to you that would make you think that he has hyperglycemia? You write an order for him to have an A1c drawn at the lab along with some other lab work. However, you can do a urinalysis right there at the office because you are now an expert reading the urine strips used for urinalyses thanks to your A&P teacher. So, you show him the way to the bathroom so that he can give you a urine sample. You successfully do a urinalysis of his urine sample.  2. What in his urinalysis would indicate that he is hyperglycemic? 3. What is going on physiologically in the renal system if he is hyperglycemic?  4. What can possibly happen to his kidneys if he continues to have unmanaged blood sugar where he continues to be hyperglycemic for 20 years?
