I аm trying tо prоduce xylitоl from а birchwood extrаctive containing xylan. Before I can make the sugar alcohol I have to convert the xlyan to xylose. I am accomplishing this through acid hydrolysis of the xylan. If I have 1 kg of xylan (assume no acetyl groups, no side chains, just 100% clean xylan) how much xylose will I generate if I recover 90% of the theoretically possible xylose. MW Xylose = 150g/mol ; H=1; O=16
