Questions

Whаt аre sоme оf the culturаl nоrms that you engage in?  And what are some of the cultural values that you believe in? Develop a numbered list of 15 norms that you follow, and then develop a numbered list of 15 values that you believe in. (You will be deducted five points for each list that you do not number.) Your lists do not need to be written in sentence format (phrases for the norms are acceptable; and for values, it will be a single word). Each norm that you list (if you are able to correctly identify a norm) is worth 1 point; likewise, each value that you list (if you correctly identify a value) is worth 1 point.  If you are having difficulty thinking of answers, sometimes it helps to imagine traveling to a far-away, foreign culture: how do you think your norms would differ from theirs, and how do you think your values would differ from theirs? HINT: Typically, values can be written as ONE WORD.  Think of them as the "big ideas" that guide our way of life.  For example, in America, we value "democracy," "individualism," "cleanliness," etc.  What else do you value? And for norms, there are thousands of them!  For example, I "drive on the right-hand side of the road," "say hello when answering the phone," and "tip servers at restaurants." You are not permitted to use my examples as I want you to come up with your own.
