Nаme the аuthоr: This wоmаn recоgnized the dissatisfaction that American women were experiencing after the end of World War II when women having a chance to use intellectual ability and skills was basically nonexistent. They had stepped up during the war to take over jobs of all kinds and leadership in family matters but were expected to step aside again when the men returned. Women in the Soviet Union had more opportunities to be doctors and other professional roles due to the massive loss of men during the war. The numbers were not as high for the United States although there certainly had been losses. By the mid-50s the dissatisfaction was growing and would result in college women of the 60's fighting and demonstrating for equal rights. These Baby Boomer women born after the war were not satisfied with their mothers' limited roles that has also been unsatisfying for their mothers and grandmothers. The activism was focused on white, middle-class women, but it affected all women.
