The symptoms are as follows: instability in relationships, alternating between idealizing others and then devaluing them after conflicts or perceived slights; a markedly unstable sense of self and shifting goals or values, sometimes presenting very differently in different settings; impulsivity in areas that can be self-damaging (e.g., impulsive shopping sprees, binge eating, and engaging in risky sexual behavior); recurrent self-harm and several threats of suicide, particularly during relationship conflicts, with one non-fatal attempt after a breakup; affective instability with rapid shifts in mood, from intense anger to deep sadness or anxiety, often within hours; chronic feelings of emptiness and a sense that "something is missing" in her life; inappropriate, intense anger and difficulty controlling it, sometimes leading to verbal or physical outbursts; stress-related paranoid thoughts or transient dissociative experiences during crises; impairment in work and relationships; she has had several unstable job episodes, arguments with coworkers, and strained friendships due to the intensity and instability of interactions.
