The three friends often made a friendly wager on each game with the second and third place finishers having to buy a beer for the winner of the game. In the first game played, Abe appeared to have bowled a strike as all 10 pins were knocked down. However, Buck accused Abe of having fouled by having his foot cross the line. Abe denied fouling and wanted to write down a strike on his score card. Buck, however, refused and instead wrote a score of zero (0) on Abe’s score card. Buck then went to bowl his frame and as Buck turned his back, Abe approached Buck from behind with a bowling ball in his hand. Charlie saw Abe raised the bowling ball above his own head as if threatening to strike Buck in the back of the head with the bowling ball. Buck did not see Abe approaching as his back was turned. But Charlie was Abe’s actions. Charlie could have easily warned Buck but remained silent. Abe did, in fact, strike Buck in the back of the head causing Buck physical injury. Assume for the purpose of this question only that Charlie suffered nervous shock at witnessing Abe’s attack on Buck. Charlie was overcome by shame and humiliation and now constantly broods over the incident.
