The bookkeeper has disappeared with the cash.  The business decided to write it off.     C Provisional totals of the journals on 31 January 2022:       ·       Cash Receipt Journal – R87 500 ·       Cash Payment Journal – R71 360     D The following items appeared on the January 2022 bank statement but not in the cash journals:       ·       EFT received from Poobie Traders for rent income, R13 600. ·       Monthly debit order of R3 150 in favour of Sure Insurers for insurance. ·       ATM cash withdrawal from the business’ bank account by the owner for his personal use, R10 350. ·       A deposit made by Vincent Traders was incorrectly credited by the bank to the account of Valeria Stores, R1 300. Rectify the error. ·       Bank charges of R880.     E The following differences were noticed in comparing the journals for January to the January bank statement:       ·       Deposit for credit-card sales appeared on the bank statement as R12 900, but the entry in the CRJ was for R19 200. The bank statement is correct. ·       A debit-order for R12 500 dated 25 January 2022 in favour of TT Traders for the purchase of stock. Valeria Stores does not do business with TT Traders. The bank agreed to rectify the error.     F The following items appeared in the journals but not on the bank statement:       ·       A cash deposit of R27 400 dated 2 January 2022 received from sales. ·       EFT no. 323 for R14 900 dated 30 January 2022 appeared in the CPJ but not on the bank statement.

The transaction was not recorded in the Creditors Ledger.  The General Ledger is correct.     (iv) The amount of R2 890 received from a debtor was wrongly posted to the Creditors’ Control Account. Rectify die error.     (v) An invoice for R1 415 received from a creditor was incorrectly recorded as R1 145 and posted accordingly.     (vi) Transfer the credit balance of R1 690 of a debtor in the Debtors’ Ledger to his account in the Creditors’ Ledger.     (vii) Goods to the value of R445 along with the debit note, was sent back to the supplier.  The Creditors control account was credited with R445. The correct entry was made in the Creditors’ Ledger.         53
