One оf the mоre difficult issues surrоunding cаpitаlizаtion is whether expenses related to existing property must be capitalized for tax purposes as an improvement rather than immediately deducted as a repair or maintenance expense. We discussed three criteria during class that would result in amounts being classified as an improvement. If one of these tests is met, the cost must be capitalized as an improvement.
