Cаse Nineteen - Acute Pelvic Pаin A 28-yeаr-оld presents tо the ER with a 1-hоur history of severe lower abdominal pain. The pain began suddenly and has worsened since onset. It is worse in the right lower quadrant, but she reports diffuse abdominal pain. The pain is sharp and associated with nausea. She has had two episodes of emesis. Prior to today, she reports intermittent dull cramping abdominal pain for the past 4 months. She reports a history of pelvic inflammatory disease at age 22 that was treated with antibiotics. She has never had surgery. Periods occur irregularly, often missing 1-2 months at a time. Last menstrual period was 6 weeks ago. She is currently sexually active with a male partner.
