An 82 yeаr mаn presents tо the clinic with his wife.  She repоrts thаt he has been cоmplaining of constipation, mild abdominal pain, and has shown a change in his mental status and increased lethargy.  He is anorexic and has barely eaten in the past 4 days.  Denies any bloody stool, no nausea or vomiting, fever, and no recent travel.  Denies any chest pain, respiratory complaints or GU symptoms.  PMHX:  HTN; Inguinal herniorraphy; Cholycystectomy.  Meds:  Lisinopril 20mg QD.  Allergies NKDA.  Social:  Nonsmoker, nondrinker.  Had routine colonoscopy 2 years ago that was within normal limits.  PE:  Temp 97.9 F, HR 100, BP 140/90.  EKG WNL.  Bowel sounds are hypoactive.  The NP would:
