Prоblem 2 (14 pоints) Use this descriptiоn to аnswer the following 5 questions. A phаrmаceutical company is developing a new drug. To transform one chemical compound into another, researchers can perform a variety of laboratory transformations. Each transformation requires a certain amount of resources and the researchers have estimated the cost of every possible transformation from compound A to compound B. However, the cost may not be the same going from compound B back to compound A. The cost is always going to be a positive amount. The company wants to transform an initial compound into a desired target compound. Producing the target compound may require a sequence of laboratory transformations involving several intermediate compounds. For example, the initial compound might first be transformed into Compound R, then into Compound Q and finally into the target compound. In general, many different sequences of transformations may be possible, each with a different total cost. As part of a government research initiative, the laboratory has received a voucher that allows one transformation to be performed free of charge. The voucher may be used on at most one transformation during the entire synthesis process. The researchers would like to determine the minimum total cost required to produce the target compound Y from the initial compound X.
