She usually can get the flutter to stop by performing a Valsalva maneuver. This time, however, the fluttering did not stop. She has no history of cardiac abnormalities, and had normal heart rate, blood pressure, and cardiac sounds during her preparticipation physical.   The athlete presents with tachycardia and is afebrile. Her blood pressure is 117/78, and her respiration rate is 16.
