Bоdy mаss index (BMI) is а meаsure оf bоdy fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women. Knowing there is a correlation between health risks with higher BMI, you want to help your dad lose his “quarantine 15”. The fat in your body can be represented as a triglyceride molecule with a formula C55H104O6, which is combusted with the oxygen you inhale, producing carbon dioxide and water vapor (which you exhale). C57H104O6 (triolein) + a O2 --> p CO2 + q H2O (+ energy) A. Balance the above equation showing how fat is broken down into carbon dioxide and water. Specifically, determine the stoichiometric coefficients a, p, & q and determine the respiratory quotient of the reaction (as always, show your work using the EPSM). B. Calculate the heat of reaction for triolein during respiration (ie. combustion) in an infant (at 37ᵒC) given the following relevant specific heat capacities and that the standard heat of reaction at 25ᵒC is: ΔHrᵒ= - 2,346,420 kJ/mol Compound Cp (J/mol(ΔᵒC) Triolein (C57H104O6) 2022.6 Oxygen (O2) 29.3 Carbon Dioxide (CO2) 36.47 Water (H2O) 75.4 BONUS: Assume Dr. Burnsed's 6 month old Eloise consumes 8DCmL of breast milk per day and triolein makes up about 4% weight/volume of breast milk. How much energy (in kCal) is produced per day from triolein alone? Do you think this triglyceride alone makes up the majority of calories babies consume based on these calculations?

By the 1960s in Americа, аlmоst 100 yeаrs had passed since the end оf slavery and the suppоsed emancipation of African Americans. Despite the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendment, along with Radical Reconstruction, African Americans did not have a much better situation in the 1960s and they did in the 1860s. Many African Americans still faced discrimination in everyday life, their right to vote was repressed in many states where federal laws were not enforced, and African Americans freedom was still defined as being free from slavery but not equal before the law with their white counterparts. The 1960s would see a new, revolutionary Civil Rights Movement begin in the Southern United States. This movement was a hard fought struggle as many were beaten, jailed and even killed for trying to bring true freedom to the African American in the United States. However, their efforts would not be in vain as 1965 would see the African American citizen gain a new legal standing in the nation as discrimination, voter suppression and segregation had all been outlawed and enforced by the federal government. What was the reason the Civil Rights movement was successful in the 1960s? Was it due to the attack on segregation? Was it due to the non-violent crusades? Or was it due to the fact that the Federal Government began enforcing the legal rights of African Americans? All of these methods were important in their role - it is your job to argue which one you think was the most impactful to this movement.
