Bоdy Pаrаgrаph 3 (150-220 wоrds) Each bоdy paragraph should use PIETIE+L as follows:  POINT= The topic sentence gives your reaction (valid, not valid, somewhere in between) to the scholar's argument for the first reason you provided in the thesis sentence.  Example: One reason (or another reason) Smith's argument holds up is that he persuasively examines...  ILLUSTRATE= Contextualize and then quote from one of the article's main points. The quote should highlight the author's analysis of evidence.  EXPLAIN= Explain the information from the illustration and how it functions in the argument he or she makes.  TRANSITION= Use transitional wording or phrasing before introducing the aspect of the literary work that you say corroborates or challenges the scholar's reading from above.  ILLUSTRATE= Provide context and evidence (quotation is required) from the literary text that corroborates or challenges the scholar's reading from above.  EXPLAIN= Explain why the textual evidence above does or does not align with an aspect of the scholar's argument.  LINK= Link to the topic sentence. Don't use the same wording, but bring readers back to the original claim from the topic sentence about the reason this aspect of the scholar's argument is or is not valid.
