Be sure to answer all parts of the question as well as provide illustrative examples.  Your essay should also have an introduction, a summarizing conclusion, use complete sentences and correct grammar. What is academic tracking? Define how this concept is used and give examples of some tracks that are available and the purpose they serve? Why is this so important? What can help or hinder their motivation?   Please discuss this complicated topic making sure to reference internal factors as well as external factors that can play a role in motivation.  Also, speak to having growth and fixed mindset orientations and different goals impact teens when it comes to motivation.   Please remember to include specific examples in your answer.  Annie’s parents believe Annie, who is 16, has too much free time on her hands. They would like her to either enroll in some extracurricular activities or get a part-time job.  What are the pros and cons of each of these choices?   What would be the differences and similarities between these two options?  How might Annie’s experience differ in these two settings?  Why are there differences?  Based on research , what would you recommend? Please give specific examples as part of your answer. The local PTA is very concerned about how media is impacting their children because they have had lots of complaints from parents saying that it is a terrible influence. Describe and explain to these parents what you know about the four theories on influence of media and what they say about the impact on their adolescents.   Also, give the parents specific examples to help them understand what these effects look like in real life. To conclude your presentation what is your recommendation?  Should media be banned, restricted, regulated…? Justify your answer with specific examples and research.   Media is becoming an integral part of most everyone’s life – therefore from a developmental perspective, it needs to be integrated appropriately. To address this issue, please define what it meant by media literacy – and explain the evidence when we can be confident it exists for adolescence.  Please outline and discuss the recommendations provided to help teens and families develop appropriate uses of media in a healthy and balanced way.  These include such things as setting parameters etc. Remember to include examples throughout your answer.  Internalizing disorders are among the most common mental health challenges affecting teenagers today. Please list how these may manifest and in an adolescent.  Since not all teens develop these disorders, what are the major risk factors that can  contribute to  development of internalizing disorders in adolescents.  Be sure to talk about how these factors might interact to increase vulnerability in some teens.  Also discuss potential protective factors or interventions that could mitigate these risks. Support your analysis with relevant research, theories and include specific examples. Imagine you are a high school counselor. One day, an adolescent is brought into your office by his concerned parents because he has been “acting up” and recently was caught shoplifting at Walmart. He has also gotten drunk a few times with his friends. They want to know if this problem behavior will progress into adulthood. What can you tell them about the two types of adolescent offenders (Life-Course Persistent Offenders and Adolescent-Limited Offenders to answer their questions? What questions would you ask them to answer regarding their son, his behaviors, their behaviors, their home life etc. to help them decide what is best for their son? Then depending on what is determined from their answers – what course of action would you recommend.  In other words, once you have decided his likely trajectory, what is the appropriate treatment.  Please explain your conclusion to the parents with examples.
