Kant denies you may lie even to a murderer seeking your friend. Does this case refute his ethics, or can Kantianism be defended-by accepting the conclusion or by showing the theory does not require it? Defend a position. Aristotle - The Doctrine of the Mean. Aristotle holds that virtue lies in a mean between excess and deficiency, relative to us. Is this a correct and useful account of what makes a character trait a virtue, or does it fail to give real moral guidance? Defend a thesis. Aristotle - Habituation and the Education of Virtue. Aristotle claims we become virtuous by practicing virtuous acts, so that virtue is acquired through habit rather than mere teaching. Is this account of moral development correct?
