In this assignment, I would like you to write 600-900 words (2-3 pages) on the question of whether you ultimately find the idea of teleology in nature plausible. In writing your piece, you should seek to do each of the following: (1) Make reference to each of the six authors we have discussed and explain accurately what their positions are. This does not mean that you need to reproduce every aspect of their writings. Rather, you will only need to provide an accurate characterization of what they believe. In doing this, you should be able to compare and contrast their positions with one another. (2) Utilize whatever tools from this course that you think relevant to evaluate their respective positions. (3) Draw an ultimate conclusion from your analysis concerning whether you find the idea of teleology in nature plausible. The conclusion you draw here is much less important than whether your reasoning is well-grounded and follows logically from your analysis. You don't need to treat this as a formal research paper with references. However, you are welcome--indeed, encouraged--to quote the authors in your piece. You should also include a short introduction that includes a thesis statement and a conclusion that summarizes what you have argued for. In writing your piece, you only need to attend to the top three items on the grading rubric.
