Questions

I reviewed the syllаbus аnd I understаnd the basic cоurse infоrmatiоn: time/place, communication policy, assignments and grading schedule, schedule of topics, and exam dates. I understand that assessment takes the form of homework, quizzes, and exams. I have a laptop that works well with Honorlock so I can take the online exams in class on exam days. I know that if I have any further questions about the course, I should contact Dr. Fischer to discuss.

Patient B: A 35-year-old with cocaine use disorder; recent cocaine use (potent dopamine reuptake inhibitor); presenting with tactile hallucinations and persecutory delusions. Patient C: A 68-year-old with Parkinson's disease; recently had levodopa/carbidopa dose titrated upward; now experiencing visual hallucinations and paranoid ideation.   Debrief: These cases illustrate the "final common pathway" hypothesis of psychosis, whereby diverse genetic, environmental, and pharmacological risk factors converge on a specific neurochemical mechanism.   Question: According to recent advancements in schizophrenia research, which of the following BEST explains why all three patients experience hallucinations and delusions despite their differing etiologies?
