Criterion Excellent Satisfactory Needs Work Responds to the Prompt — 30 pts 30: Fully answers all required questions and keeps the reflection focused on the student’s own writing growth. 24: Answers most questions but may be missing some detail. 18: Several questions are incomplete, unclear, or off topic. Specific Writing Details — 25 pts 25: Identifies clear, specific writing strengths, goals, skills, or growth with relevant explanation. 20: Includes writing-related details, but some are general or need more explanation. 15: Details are vague, limited, or not clearly connected to writing. MLA format, Paragraph & Sentence Requirements — 20 pts 20: One organized paragraph with 5–7 complete sentences. 16: Mostly follows the paragraph and sentence requirements. 12: Does not fully follow the paragraph or sentence requirements. Organization & Clarity — 15 pts 15: Ideas are easy to follow and presented in a logical order. 12: Ideas are mostly clear but could be better organized or connected. 9: Ideas are difficult to follow or lack organization. Grammar, Punctuation & Capitalization — 10 pts 10: Writing is clear with few or no noticeable errors. 8: Contains some errors, but meaning remains clear. 6: Frequent errors interfere with clarity.
