Mаrlоw wаs а bоuncer at the lоcal bar, The Pit. The Pit was famous for keeping venomous snakes in tanks throughout the bar. The snakes had been defanged, but this was not known. The owner wanted people to be afraid of the snakes, because he thought it added to the mystique of the bar. On Friday night, while working as a bouncer, Marlow approached a man, Bill, who was getting drunk and rowdy at The Pit. Marlow asked Bill to calm down, and he also told the bartender to cut the man off from ordering any more drinks that evening. In his drunken state, Bill took a swing at Marlow, who reacted by blocking the blow with his left arm. Unfortunately, Marlow’s arm made contact with a plate sitting on the bar, which flipped and drenched the nearby guest Gus with the chili nachos that had been on that plate. Other people sitting at the bar jumped away from the altercation between Bill and Marlow, and one of the patrons knocked over a glass aquarium housing a rattlesnake. The snake started rattling its tail, and several people ran, pushing and stumbling over each other. Several people were injured. Marlow put Bill into an armlock and escorted him out of the bar. He may have pushed just a little once he got Bill outside, and Bill tripped. Being drunk, he couldn’t regain his balance. He fell on the ground, and split his lip. Unknown to anyone at the Pit, Bill had planted a secret recording device in the bar area of The Pit before he had been thrown out that night. About a month later, Bill played footage from an argument that had taken place at The Pit between a husband and wife who were getting divorced. During the argument, the wife made several comments that were true but embarrassing, concerning facts of a personal and private nature about the husband. Bill published the footage on his YouTube channel and made more than $10,000 in royalties from the views his video earned. Discuss.
