One piece оf mоrphоlogicаl evidence thаt fungi аnd animals share a common ancestor is that both of these groups produce a polysaccharide, chitin, which is not found in any other group of animals. Chitin is a hard polysaccharide found in the cell wall of fungal cells and in hard structure of animals, such as insect's exoskeleton.
