Cоurse Cоntrаct Technоlogy Recommendаtions for Science аnd Math Division Online and Remote Instruction Courses Access to technology resources is required for all Online and Remote Instruction courses. The college has computing facilities to support students when the college is open, but for online course students we strongly recommend that students have their own technology resources to maximize access to course material at any given time for reviewing course materials and communications. Online courses in the Science and Math Division use CANVAS, the college-wide Learning Management System, and many courses use online homework systems, such as myLab, WileyPlus, WebAssign, etc. Online Testing is monitored through online programs such as, Honorlock, ProctorU, or other testing software technologies that require Webcam Video Monitoring. If your current equipment is insufficient, the following checklist is a helpful guide when planning to purchase or upgrade personal technology resources to ensure compatibility with the various software packages used in online courses: Hardware Requirements Checklist A student should have a computer with the following: 2 GHz processor or faster High-speed Internet connection of 3 Mb/s or better 4 GB RAM or greater 64 GB system storage or larger Built-in or external speakers. Hard-wired or Bluetooth speakers are acceptable. Built-In Webcam and Microphone. Online Homework Policy (WebAssign) All online homework must be completed by the date indicated on the course schedule. Online homework WILL NOT be reopened after the due date. Even though the online homework is due at the end of the semester you should be working on the assignments prior to taking the exam on the material. Exam Policy There will be NO make-up exams. The final exam will be taken from exams 1-6. The final exam will only be available during the two-hour window on the scheduled dates listed in the course schedule. “Physical Science Department Policy for Online Courses” To protect the “Academic Integrity” of the Physical Science Courses the following guidelines for testing have been adopted by the Physical Science Department: FINAL EXAMS for CHEM, GEOL, SCIE, and PHYS web and remote based courses MUST be taken using Honorlock at the times and locations designated by the instructor. Makeup EXAMS are NOT permitted. Instructors MAY require other quizzes, tests, and/or exams to be taken using Honorlock and/or Web Monitoring. If so, you will be required to have any of the recommended computing resources for online instruction and operating systems. Under extreme circumstances, the instructor MAY allow the use of a proctor on a very limited basis, and with the rules established by the instructor. “Physical Science Department Policy for Online Student-Instructor Communication” All course communication must be done through CANVAS or via your Delgado e-mail address.
