Jeffersоn hаs been friends with Wilbur whо is аn elderly mаn in pоor health. Jefferson and Wilbur have been friends even though Jefferson is considerably younger. As Wilbur’s health declined, Jefferson began to care for him on a daily basis to the extent that he could. Jefferson would bring him meals, wash his clothes, generally keep his house neat, and take him to doctor's appointments. Wilbur told Jefferson one day that he was the best friend that he had ever had and that no one really cared for him other than Jefferson. He told Jefferson that if he continued to provide care for him throughout what was left of Wilbur’s life, Wilbur would give him his comic book collection as payment. He said to Jefferson that “I value your friendship and everything you do for me so much that I want to make sure you are paid.” Jefferson didn't think much about it and did not respond at the time because he figured he was his friend and didn't mind taking care of him and really didn't think a comic book collection was that big of a deal. Jefferson continued caring for Wilbur over the next six months at which point Wilbur’s health began to fail. One day Jefferson was tidying up Wilbur’s house and came across a professional appraisal for Wilbur’s comic book collection. It turns out that Wilbur’s comic book collection was huge and contained many first editions including Captain America #1, Superman #1, Hulk #1, etc.. The appraisal, which was done five years ago, estimated that Wilbur’s collection was worse $1,750,000. When Jefferson got home that night he realized that Wilbur had meant to make him an offer that would generously pay him for his years of services. He immediately wrote a letter to Wilbur thanking him for the offer and said that he would accept the offer and continue to care for him throughout Wilbur’s last days. Jefferson put the letter in an envelope, placed the stamp on the envelope, and walked down to the corner mailbox and dropped it in the mailbox. When Jefferson got up the next morning to go check on Wilbur, he realized that he had passed away at some point the night before. The letter was delivered the next day. Explain whether Jefferson has an enforceable contract for the comic book collection including any defenses that might exist.
