The nurse confirms the patient has a history of stage 3 kidney disease, coronary artery disease (CAD) and hypertension (HTN). The patient is transferred to the cardiac cath lab. A percutaneous Coronary intervention (PCI) is performed and a stent is placed in the left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery and reperfusion is accomplished. The nurse is monitoring the patient 45 minutes after the placement of a coronary artery stent. The nurse assesses the insertion site at the right femoral artery, and determines the femoral access site is dry/intact, no hematoma observed. Vital signs and distal pulses remain within normal range. In order to prevent a complication of PCI, the nurse states:
