As shоwn in the tаble аbоve, unintentiоnаl injuries are the leading cause of death as far as years of potential life lost before age 65 (YPLL–65), and yet the cause-specific crude mortality from unintentional injuries is much lower than that from malignant neoplasms or from diseases of the heart. The reason(s) for this is(are): I. YPLL-65 was used when YPLL-75 would have been more appropriate II. Column I of this table includes persons dying after age 65, while Column II does not III.
