In your essay, be sure to do the following in one body paragraph each: --Discuss the Mariner with regard to the albatross.  What “sin” does the Mariner commit and why? and how does he suffer for the sin he has committed? --Discuss the moment of transformation with the water snakes. How is he changing, particularly with regard to nature? --The Mariner at the end of his tale. What does he say about the way he lives his life?  What role does religion play in it?   Ultimately, what is the Mariner’s religious perspective at the end of the Rime of the Ancient Mariner?  Optional:  A 4th body paragraph, discussing anything else you see as relevant, or expanding one of the previous body paragraphs to two.  --Conclusion:  What was Coleridge’s theological purpose in the Rime of the Ancient Mariner?  In what ways is it a Christian text?
