Carved from white marble, the man’s muscular body faces us and he looks off to our left. His right arm, to our left, hangs by his side, his hand loosely curled. A short bar of marble connects the wrist to the body of the sculpture. His other elbow is bent and the hand raised to about chest height. He stands with most of his weight on his right leg, and his left knee bends so those toes rest on the ground behind him.

Both have wide eyes, arched brows, short noses, small smiling lips, and pointed chins. The woman leans on one elbow and holds both hands in front of her body. Her long fingers curl around a now-missing object. A bare-chested man reclines behind her and to our right. He leans one elbow on a pillow and rests his other hand on the woman’s far shoulder. While the pair’s torsos face us, their legs, extended to our left, seem to lie flat. Their toes peek up at the end of the padded couch, which is cracked up the middle.
