Medicаl reseаrchers аre testing a new оintment, Itch-B-Gоne, tо see if it is more effective for treating poison ivy rashes than a standard and available ointment, SoothSkin. The medical researchers recruited 40 volunteers who all had mild to moderate poison ivy rashes (Stay away from poison ivy with the leaf project!). The volunteers were randomly divided into two groups of 20. Group 1 received SoothSkin, the current standard ointment. While Group 2 received Itch-B-Gone. Each participant applies their assigned ointment twice a day for 7 days. Volunteers are also instructed to avoid scratching the rash, avoid other medications, and do not contract poison ivy rash again. At the end of the 7 days, researchers measure the severity of the rash by scoring it from 1-5.  Using the scenario above, identify the following: 1. What is the experimental group? 2. What is the control group? 3. What is the independent variable? 4. What is the dependent variable? 5. Identify two constants in the experiment.
