Which cоmbining fоrm meаns “tensiоn” or “pressure”?

Hellо everyоne, аnd welcоme to Religion in Americа.This course explores the diverse religious trаditions, movements, controversies, and ideas that have shaped American society. Over the next five weeks, we'll examine religion not only as a system of beliefs and practices, but also as a force that influences politics, culture, identity, social movements, and public life. The course is organized around three main types of learning activities. First, you'll complete the textbook readings using Perusall. As you read, you'll annotate the text, ask questions, make connections, and engage actively with the material. The goal is not simply to finish the reading, but to think critically about it as you go.Second, you'll watch episodes of the PBS documentary series God in America. These episodes provide historical context and help bring many of the themes from the textbook to life.Third, you'll complete a series of short journal reflections. These journals are not tests. Instead, they are opportunities to think about the ideas, questions, and themes that stood out to you from the readings and documentary. Because they are completed through Honorlock, you should approach them as reflective writing based on your own understanding of the material rather than something that requires outside research. At the beginning of the course, you'll complete a short writing assignment based on a contemporary controversy involving religion in American public life. You'll revisit that same issue at the end of the semester. One of our goals is to see how your understanding develops as you learn more about religion, religious diversity, religious freedom, and the role of religion in American society. One additional thing to note is that this course fulfills the University's Writing Across the Curriculum requirement. That means writing is central to the course. You'll be writing throughout the semester. The journals, Perusall annotations, and major writing assignments are all designed to help you think through the material and develop your ability to communicate your ideas clearly and effectively.Because this is a five-week summer course, the pace is accelerated. Plan to engage with the course several times each week rather than trying to complete everything at once. The Due Date Chart provides a detailed schedule of readings, documentary episodes, journals, and assignments. Most importantly, come into the course with curiosity. You do not need to agree with every religious tradition or perspective we encounter, but I do expect you to approach them with openness, respect, and a willingness to learn.I'm looking forward to working with you this summer. Let's get started.

This is а hybrid clаss. There is аn оnline "class" pоrtiоn, and an in-class lab portion.
