The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution protects citizens from unreasonable searches and seizures and requires that law enforcement follow specific legal procedures when obtaining evidence. Throughout American history, court decisions have shaped how police officers conduct searches, obtain warrants, and interact with suspects. Understanding the legal aspects of policing helps students recognize the balance between effective law enforcement and individual rights. Any assignment showing significant AI-generated content or evidence of AI use will receive a score of zero (0). No resubmissions will be accepted after the due date. It is the student's responsibility to verify that the assignment complies with all course requirements before submission. Conclusion The legal aspects of policing and the constitutional protections involving search and seizure remain fundamental to the American criminal justice system. Court decisions continue to define the limits of police authority while safeguarding individual rights.
