HIS 229 Finаl Exаm Pleаse cоpy and paste yоur respоnse into the essay exam area and do not insert a link to a Google doc. Thank you. Since the midterm and final are essay exams, these need to be manually graded by me before a score is released; D2L will automatically score it at 0 until I review and release your grade. Chrome is required as a browser to take the exams. Honorlock is being used for this exam. For Honorlock instructions, please review (scroll down and open Honorlock Proctoring Services): Proctored Exams for Online Credit Courses This is required and not optional, and the proctoring is of no charge to you. Note that while the exam is underway, Honorlock is aware that (per my instructions): Students may reference notes, their online workbook and other online content through Brightspace, and may also copy/paste responses as I will have reviewed their exam plans beforehand. Students may use the restroom, take water breaks, take care of pet care, childcare, or elder care, may eat, take medicine if necessary, and may also use Brightspace instant message to contact me and may also email me. Let me know if you have any questions on Honorlock. HIS 229: Final Write four to five well-developed paragraphs on any one question of your choice listed below. Write four to five well-developed paragraphs (introduction, which is typically one paragraph; a middle section of two to three paragraphs; and a conclusion, which is typically one paragraph) on any one question of your choice listed on the final. The exact questions in the study guide will appear on the final. Students will have 180 minutes to complete the final. I suggest proofreading and citing your sources; in an exam, in-text citations are acceptable, e.g. (Stuart, p. 23). Important: for all coursework, whether discussions or exams, students are allowed to use only sources provided within the workbook, the workbook itself, in content, or in a discussion thread, unless otherwise approved by me at least one week before an assignment or exam is due. This clarification is necessary on allowed sources so that the resources that are consulted have already been vetted and reviewed by me and also by students through the workbook, and has been already used to complete coursework. Cite your sources throughout your response, by referring to them in-text, using one of two examples: cite the workbook itself (Adele-Marie, 2025) the year of publication or the page number in the workbook) or you can be specific by citing the author of the sub-source as contained within the workbook; example: (Kanala, year of publication – if known - or page number). Examples: (Adele-Marie, 2025) or (Adele-Marie, p. 36) or (Kanala, 2021) or (Kanala, p. 457). Consult with course material and connect your narrative with the readings/lecture/textbook. Stay in chronological order when constructing the response. I have added the "Helpful guide to prepare for essay exams" page found at: Writing Center I look forward to reviewing your work. Reach out via Brightspace D2L instant message if you have any questions or concerns. Reminder: since the midterm and final are essay exams, these need to be manually graded by me before a score is released; D2L will automatically score it at 0 until I review and release your grade. Examination Questions for Final Examination, select any one question from questions one or two: 1. Analyze how propaganda has been used to incite, justify, or facilitate acts of genocide. Provide specific examples from the content units to illustrate how dehumanization and hate speech contributed to genocidal actions. For example, discuss The Poisonous Mushroom from A History of the Holocaust: A Guide for the Community College Student: The Second Edition by Wendy Adele Marie, Ph.D. 2. Compare and contrast at least two historical genocides from units three, four, and five. Discuss the political, social, and economic factors that contributed to each, the methods used, and the international response. Ensure that discussion on the ten stages of genocide is included (note: not all stages are always present, so you can focus on discussion two to three stages as long as the response is connective to the genocides that are being analyzed and written on. All essays will be checked through Turnitin and will be assessed on: Grading criteria • Argument: 30% Does your paper have a clear, singular, specific argument that answers the question? • Evidence: 30% Do you use all relevant evidence to defend your argument, and have you cited your sources? • Organization: 20% Does your paper have a logical structure and use clear topic sentences and transitions? • Clarity: 20% Is your prose efficient, crisp, and polished, free of excessive passive voice or distracting spelling or grammatical errors?
